We are a relaxed, family friendly, dog friendly eatery where you can feel at home whether clutching a laptop with a coffee, having dinner with your partner, chomping tapas pre theatre or supping a few beers after work.
The DB opened in April 2015 after The Regency Arms (formerly The Newbold Bar & Brasserie) closed it’s doors in the January.
The DB is two levels of timbered floor, smattered with rugs & mismatched dining furniture. Plants, squishy leather sofas & log burners both upstairs & down mean that you can eat or drink pretty much anywhere whilst still getting a fix of photosynthesis. Framed vintage comic books & games consoles adorn the walls whilst annuals from yesteryear fill the shelves.

+ General Information
Wheelchair Access – We are a rather lovely Grade 2 listed building so there are a couple of hefty steps at the front of the pub so we have access to the bar area from the car park behind the pub. The gate is often locked for security reasons so it’s worth mentioning when you book and then we can be on hand to roll out the red carpet. We’re all heart. Also we’ll make sure you’re on the ground floor as our catapult is undergoing restoration.
Kids – Well behaved children are very welcome at The DB, there’s a kids section on the menu and plenty of board games to keep them occupied. Baby changing facilities are situated rather politically incorrectly in the Ladies toilet. Pushchair parking can become limited. We have several high chairs available.
Dogs – Well behaved & on the leash dogs are welcome throughout the pub, we have water bowls & biscuits available. Please be respectful of diners.
Card Payments – We accept most major credit cards with the exception of Amex.
Parking – There is paid street parking immediately outside the pub & a Pay & Display car park at the rear of the pub. There is even some free parking nearby but you’ll have to be swift and it’s only for a couple of hours.
Taxis – There is a taxi rank just around the corner on Holly Walk but otherwise local taxi firms are available. We are situated next to The Spa centre theatre so directions are pretty easy.
Garden – Our garden is compact & bijou with space for about 25 people
Free WiFi – Ask for the password.
Bookings – We take these ideally over the telephone and not via email. Bookings of 10 and over will need to pre order from our pre order menu. The largest booking we take on Friday evening, Saturday all day & Sunday lunch is a fourteen. We are happy to hire out the upstairs exclusively Monday to Thursday but not at the weekend as it very much used as part of the pub.
Owned & Operated by The Camo Dog Company Ltd.
